Jason Wood is a Senior Lecturer in Youth and Community Development at De Montfort University in Leicester.

A qualified youth and community worker, his professional experience is largely in youth work. He also has teaching experience of working in both community based and forensic mental health settings for high risk mentally disordered offenders. His main research interests focus around his own doctorate study – young people and active citizenship, and he has also undertaken high profile research in criminal justice.  In 2005, he evaluated the implementation of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) with Kemshall and Mackenzie, for the Home Office. He also led an investigation into MAPPA work with high risk sex offenders (with Kemshall, Maguire, Hudson and Mackenzie) commissioned by the Home Secretary in 2006 for the Child Sex Offender Review.  Jason was nominated for a Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2005, and again in 2007. With Jean Hine, he edited Work with Young People: Theory and Policy for Practice (Sage, 2009) and he is currently writing a book about young people and active citizenship.
